LONDON (Reuters) – Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) is contemplating an exit from the British North Sea after greater than 50 years within the oil and gasoline basin because it focuses on U.S. shale manufacturing and new initiatives.

The world’s largest publicly traded power firm, Exxon has held talks with a variety of North Sea operators in current weeks to gauge curiosity in some or all of its belongings, which may fetch as much as $2 billion, based on three business sources with data of the matter.
Exxon declined to remark.
